About Us

Located in the southwest Twin Cities metropolitan area, Shakopee is a growing community of more than 40,000 residents. Residents are represented by the mayor and four City Council members. The city provides services in the areas of public safety, parks and recreation, planning and zoning, building inspections, public works (streets, sanitary sewer and storm sewers) and general administration.

The mission of the City of Shakopee is to provide the opportunity to live, work, and play in a community with a proud past, promising future, and small-town atmosphere within a metropolitan setting.
